    Just a side comment about slapping an itchy spot. When I got my tattoo and it was in the ‘itchy’ part of the healing process, slapping it worked wonders. Scratching it was not an option as I didn’t want the scab to be disturbed and damage the artwork. Slapping didn’t necessarily feel good, but it did take the itching away.

      Jenn, thank you for listening! Agreed-there is just something that slapping the skin does, right?? It really helps distract from the itch 🙂

    It would have been worth it for me to listen to this podcast just for the “500 Miles (I’m Gonna Be)” reference. I LOVE that song…even if I don’t know all the words.
    As for mosquito bites, I put peppermint oil on them. 🙂
    I will have to go back and read the part with the quicksilver again. I was distracted by thoughts of mercury poisoning too and didn’t realize there were deeper things going on.
