Episode 76: In which Music most definitely plays a part

In this episode, we discuss recent announcements and continue our Dragonfly in Amber read-along with Chapter 15 “In Which Music Plays a Part.” We also share our interview with Outlander‘s composer, Bear McCreary.

Find out more about Bear McCreary at his website: http://www.bearmccreary.com/

Bear’s Outlander-specific blog entries can be found at: http://www.bearmccreary.com/#info-center/outlander/.

The book Bear referred to in our interview was Hollywood Chemistry: When science met entertainment, and the chapter he co-wrote is “Consonance and Dissonance: The Art and Science of Film Music.”

    Loved the Bear McCreary interview!

  2. Great interview with Bear, his passion for what he does is infectious. Hope you can get another interview with him in the future and hear more of his process in writing for the series.

Ealasaid, Thank you for listening! So glad you enjoyed it!
We also hope to be able to follow up with him. It would be a great opportunity to ask more in-depth questions about his prep for the series, in particular.

  3. Terribly behind on podcast listening – I just finished this one. What I wouldn’t give to have had an influence like him when I was a music major two decades ago. I’ll bet I would still be in the music industry! Excellent, intelligent, and relevant interview questions! Keep up the fantastic work. Now, I’m off to continue catching up!

Tina, so happy you liked the interview! He was very gracious to speak with us. Good to meet a fellow music major!
